"I have a very large and rambunctious yellow lab, Emily, who is my child. Last year I planned on taking a week long vacation, but did not have anyone who could walk Emily for me while I was gone and I DID NOT want to board her. I desperately tried to find dog walkers who serviced Delray Beach, but only was able to find a few. I spoke to two of them on the phone; both were far more concerned with explaining their rates than they were in finding out about Emily.
Then I found Kelly.
She took the time to answer all my questions and even provided me the phone numbers of several of her clients to call and get references from. I suppose I took it to the extreme, but my dog is my life, so I wrote Kelly a three page email explaining the in's and out's of her personality. Thankfully, this didn't deter her at all, and she agreed to come over and meet both the dog and myself at no charge. Emily immediately took to her the moment she walked through the door. When she jumped up on her to plant kisses on her face, Kelly didn't push her away, instead she kissed her back! I think that was when I realized that she was for real.
Finding somebody online, giving them the key to your house, and trusting them with your dogs well being, as well as all of your possessions is a very stressful thing to do, but Kelly's personality made it extremely easy. She's great with Emily, extremely reliable, more than reasonable with her prices (she'd probably do it for free if she could), and a total dog lover with a huge heart. All in all, Kelly ended up taking care of Emily three times a day, every day, for over a month due to an unplanned surgery I needed immediately after returning from my trip. Not only did she take her for long walks, she almost always spent extra time loving on her, and even brought her toys! Emily loves her and we've grown to consider Kelly part of the family.
